Muslin is a particularly loose plain weave that deliberately leaves air between the threads. Our Seralino muslin has three layers at 180 g/m² – ordinary muslin has two layers at 110–120 g/m². The result: the typical soft natural crinkle, but opaque and with a full drape. Woven from 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton, softer with every wash – no lint, no pilling.

Frequently Asked Questions

Muslin is a loosely woven cotton fabric made of several thin layers that gets its typical soft crinkle through washing. Unlike percale (smooth, cool) and sateen (smooth, slightly lustrous), muslin is soft, matte and lightly crinkled. Our muslin consists of three layers at 180 g/m² from 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton.

Muslin is breathable, temperature-balancing and needs no ironing. The air between the three layers cools in summer and insulates lightly in winter. The fabric gets softer with every wash – without linting or pilling.

No. With three layers and 180 g/m² our muslin is opaque – unlike standard two-layer muslin at 110–120 g/m², which is often thin and see-through.

We have already factored in the shrinkage: the stated size is the size after washing. The cover fits from day one and stays true to size – wash after wash.
